General:

Writing (I write poetry regularly – Bits of prose – Am halfway through my second novel and even bits of plays),
I do vocals in one band, DIH and play instruments currently in three other bands – B.A.N., M.A.N. and Distance.. Don’t do gigs though as my vocalist in B.A.N.
Lives in Italy, my vocalist in M.A.N. in Brighton and my
Two partners in D.I.H – Bourenmouth… I also like reading – Am currently Paul Auster’s ‘The Brooklyn Follies’ and have also recently read recently ‘Good Omens’ by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gainman as well as lots of good poetry – currently enjoying poetry by Charles Bukowski and some of Helen’s which I found on my hard drive before and which I had forgot about…

Music: Christ, now there is where the fun starts… As the owner / chief hack of ‘Setting Sun’ (http://www.geocities.com/aen1mpo) - I am always discovering and enjoying new music but currently, favourites are in no particular order.. Red House Painters, July Skies, Anthony and the Johnsons, August Skies, Bela Emerson, Dennis Wilson (Ex Beach Boys), Flying Saucer Attack, Gram Parsons (Get hold of his live version of ‘The New Soft Shoe’), Isobel Campbell (Her album ‘Broken of Broken Seas is beautiful), Jeff Buckley (Such a shame), Jenny Lewis with The Watson Lewis (Don’t really like Rilo Kiley but Jenny Lewis solo is something else), Matt Elliott / Third Eye Foundation, Music for Once, Caroline Martin, Ryan Adams, Zoe Konez, The Sundays, Laymar, The Blue Nile and so on really but this could change tomorrow..

Films:

Never watch as many as I should but currently – Mirrormask, V for Vendetta, The Seventh Seal, What’s
Eating Gilbert Grape, Amelie, Miller’s Crossing, wings of the Dove, anything by Bill Hicks, Mona Lisa, The Crying Game, Finding Neverland, The Nightmare before Christmas, Backbeat, Metrolopis, Stealing Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption, Before Sunset, Betty Blue. Intermission.. As you can see I like all sorts of films, although I do tend to struggle with a lot of the big blockbusters…

Television:

Never seem to watch a great deal to be honest..
Current favourites are 24, Desperate Housewives, Lost, Hustle and Alias.. As you can see I watch mostly action
Based ones – Sad I know but I like a bit of excitement when I watch TV, although I do like watching documentaries also but I couldn’t name any to you though (Bad memory I know)

Books:

Only just seen this and I half answered it above – but oh well… Currently reading: Paul Auster – The Brooklyn Follies and once I have finished this I will then return to Joolz Denby’s ‘Borrowed Light’… Other favourites include Margaret Atwood’s ‘Cat’s Eye’ Tom Baker’s (Doctor Who) The Boy who kicked pigs, some David Gemmell books ‘ The Last Guardian in particular… I must admit though I rarely seem to get time for reading novels or books – I am often too busy with life in general – I do love writing poetry though – Have been particular enjoying work recently by Derek Jarman, Charles Bukowski, Jack Kerouac, Henry Normal, John Hegley and also work by my friends Orla Fay, Conor Duffy, Helen Banks and the people in my writing group…

Heroes:
My hero is the people who make a difference in their lives – Whether it is in a job where they can make a difference in their life – Be it big or little – Remember people have the power (Patti Smith).

Dear all;

Something I posted on my page on myspace.com

Thought it would be fun to post it here..

Cheers

Setting Sun Interviews….

Like I said fairly recently, life on the interviews side at Setting Sun has been
Very quiet until recently when I received two new interviews by ‘The Fountain’ and ‘Travel By Sea’ – Although I had sorted out a series of more interviews sometimes
It can be ages before you hear back from people (if you ever do in some cases) – but
You certainly do not expect to get three more interviews to come through at once in the space off about three days…

Either way, the first two are now uploaded and they are by:

1) Purrmachine – Who I notice after I actually did the interview contain Bryon
From long time Setting Sun favourites Mercurine among their ranks. Purrmachine like Mercurine also are from Los Angeles and perhaps in a way
Sound a little like Mercurine expect for the fact they have a vocalist who
Really reminds me of Siouxise from Siouxise from the Banshees in a way
Expect of course with completely different backing.

2) Secondly, also uploaded now is Dundee (Scotland)’s own Zealous Veil who
Are much more Darkwave meets Trance sort of territory and just as compelling.

3) I have just finished editing also the long awaited Laymar interview which has
been dangling for ages (of course mostly caused by my PC dying) – Laymar
are this ace mostly instrumental three piece group from Manchester who I
have described more than once like Mogwai playing Joy Division cover
versions.

All three interviews can be found in the interviews page off my website ‘http://www.geocities.com/aen1mpo’

ontop of the shortly to be published interview by Paul Morgan aka Euphonious Murmur Blend an excellent experimental arists from Brighton who produces music like soundscapes like my good pal, Bela Emerson and Chris Cook aka Same Actor and recently interviewed Music for One expect he uses a live ticking clock which almost produces a heart beat to some of his chilling pieces.

This interview I am having a few formatting problems with, but should be
Online within the next week.

Setting Sun Shop - New Releases

Dear all;

In relation to Setting Sun – the shop… Finally available at last here are the two spoken word releases I have mentioned to you all previously…

First up, the debut spoken word album from Andy M – the voice off M.A.N. Here are recorded sessions from 2006 – with just Andy by himself – no music backing by myself – just words and the way Andy speaks them…

The Catalogue Number is SS012 and the name for the album is "Random Musings from a lonely Room Volume 1 (2006)"

Some of these will be appearing on the forthcoming M.A.N. album while others will also be appearing on the forthcoming Christmas album for this year with DIH and friends – of which 13 tracks are already plotted out…

Secondly, a new project for myself – following straight on from Andy’s recordings, I recorded a series of solo vocals for myself under the alas of Endless Dreamer – These are from pieces from 2005 – 2006 and like Andy’s is a chance to let the words speak for themselves.

The Catalogue Number for this is SS013 and the title of the album is "Day One"

Currently in the future there is plans for follow ups for both of these – a second solo collection of Andy’s (Volume 2 containing work from 2003 to 2004 containing some of the work that appeared on the first M.A.N. album and some off also appeared on the 2003 and 2004 DIH with friends at Christmas) – I think this will appear maybe June or July time with a third collection of material mostly uncollected from the 2004 to 2005 period (Volume 3) perhaps at the end of the year….

Plans are also afoot for a second collection of ‘Endless Dreamer’ material towards the end of the year which will come out containing some new material and a look through my archive.

Next projects which I look forward to completing fairly soon is the second self titled M.A.N. album which will be completed over the next few weeks hopefully and the long awaited next DIH album ‘Suicide (I meant forever)’ sometime shortly after that as that is almost complete too..

More soon
